Alarm Clock Chicken

Now this is not a good idea

And something I wouldn’t recommend at all

But it is something I am guilty of and I know many others are as well

Now this is a brutal game

And someone has to lose if not both of you.

But see the issue is the person who has the least to lose, will always win

And let me give you a hint here,

(Leans in really close and whispers)

“The alarm clock has nothing to lose”

So the original concept of chicken was 2 people run at each other and the last person to pull out to avoid the collision wins.

Simple right


But simple

The point is to see who has the most courage or stupidity depending on how you look at it.

Now you have to ask yourself have you ever played alarm clock chicken

I am pretty sure you have, most people have at least once in their life

Where you challenge the alarm clock to see who can be the most stubborn

Remember my hint

So every time you hit that snooze button push the limits a little more

You are challenging the alarm clock and I have a feeling he is going to win.

But there is also other issues

On a psychological level there have been studies which show, when you hit snooze, especially multiple times you are setting the tone for the day.

You will have more trouble sticking to tasks that are difficult, more likely to find excuses as to why you can’t do something, and the list goes on.

This is why I encourage my clients when possible to workout first thing in the morning.

It gets you started, there are less excuses, and your body will feel better for it.

So stop playing chicken with the alarm clock, make the choice and get out and moving.

Your body and your mind will thank you for it.

And save the heroic chicken game for another day.
