The Homunculus And Me

Sometimes it takes something outside of your world to make you change your view on things.

To make an impact and make you question what you have been doing.

Or to be put in the shoes of someone else and truly understand where they are coming from.

The homunculus did this for me.

In case you don’t know a homunculus is a perfectly formed miniture human being.

It’s a nerdy nickmane I called my niece.

But back to my story.

She changed how I see things especially the load on parents.

Now I am not a parent, that day will come but for now, I have much greater understanding (not complete because you can never know until you are one, but better) of what comes with it, and the sacrifices, time and effort that is involved.

It is bloody exhausting!

And I am stupidly fit, and I get to the end of the day and go that was amazing, but I am done for the day.

It highlighted to me the conundrum that comes with parenthood.

That you have to devote so much time to your child that it can be difficult to find time for yourself.

But at the same time, the amount of energy and effort required, demands that you are fit and you stay healthy.

It is truly tough.

But the only thing I would say is that you need to put yourself first, to make time for your health and fitness so that you can be there for your child as they grow up.

You want to have the energy to play with them, to keep up with them.

You want to have the stamina to be able to stay with the endless hours of energy.

You have to stay healthy so that you can look after your child.

These things are of vital importance.

And it take’s an investment into yourself for the future, for everyone.

So don’t waste anymore time, take that plunge today.
